PARIS, October 7th - The International Energy Agency issued a statement on the 7th, saying that its member governments have agreed to accelerate the implementation of the oil reserve release plan announced in March this year. If all the reserves that were promised but not yet released are put on the market, it is estimated that an additional 100 million barrels of oil can be released.

The statement also said that in response to the current tight supply situation in the diesel market, its member countries agreed to prioritize the supply of diesel when conditions permit.

According to the statement, as of now, the member countries of the International Energy Agency have released approximately 325 million barrels of oil in accordance with the collective action plan reached in March this year. Some countries have released a larger amount than their previous commitments. The member countries of the International Energy Agency currently still hold about 1.1 billion barrels of public emergency oil reserves, including over 200 million barrels of diesel. If necessary, these reserves can be further utilized to stabilize market supply.

The International Energy Agency stated that it will continue to maintain coordination with the governments of all member countries, monitor the implementation of the March collective action, and will again assess the current energy market situation at the upcoming council meeting next week.

On March 11th, the International Energy Agency announced that all 32 member countries unanimously agreed to release 400 million barrels of strategic oil reserves to address the global oil supply shortage caused by the military strikes against Iran by the United States and Israel.
