Saudi Arabia reported to the Organization of the Petroleum Exporting Countries (OPEC) that its crude oil production dropped significantly again last month, reaching the lowest level since 1990. This was due to the renewed hostile actions between the United States and Iran, which squeezed Saudi Arabia's export channels.

The OPEC monthly report indicates that Riyadh informed the OPEC secretariat that the daily crude oil production dropped by 1.9 million barrels to 6.238 million barrels. This level is even lower than the previous low point recorded during the war in April, which was already the lowest production figure reported by Saudi Arabia since the start of the Gulf War.

The decline in Saudi Arabia's reported production is in line with the preliminary tanker tracking data compiled. The data shows that Saudi Arabia's crude oil exports dropped by approximately one-third in August, to around 3 million barrels per day.

Saudi Arabia also reported to OPEC that the "market supply" of crude oil in August was 7,122,000 barrels per day, higher than the production volume for the same period. This indicator includes the crude oil withdrawn from storage facilities, indicating that Saudi Arabia may have drawn on some of its reserves.

In addition to the data directly reported by member countries, the OPEC monthly report also includes assessment data aggregated by multiple external institutions, which are referred to as "secondary sources". The average of these data shows that Saudi Arabia's crude oil production in August decreased only moderately compared to the previous month, amounting to 7.276 million barrels per day.
